Volunteer

With the exception of our directors, The Center is solely staffed, operated, maintained, and supported by VOLUNTEERS! The work we do wouldn’t be possible without their dedication. We have a number of opportunities and can easily find a fit for anyone who wants to help us with our mission.

To learn more about our available volunteer positions, visit our sign-up page at www.ugetconnected.org.

Internships

We’re proud that we’re able to offer a wide variety of internship opportunities at The Center. Whether it’s community outreach, fundraising, or day-to-day operations of a non-profit, there’s something for you. And we’ll tailor the experience for every intern that comes through our doors. We’ll work with the local universities to meet the needs of your internship and make sure you have an experience to help boost you into the professional field of interest.

To get involved, contact us and specify that you are interested in being an intern. info@7riverslgbtq.org

Join a committee

Do you want to volunteer, but need to do so at your own pace and fit the work into a busy schedule?  We need volunteers for our committees!

We have a few committees who need some focused help a couple of hours a month. They are working on amazing community projects, but need people who can commit to a few hours a month doing research, making calls, or spear-heading specific projects.

We normally request a year commitment for these committees because the monthly time requirement is shorter and the projects normally take a number of months to complete.  However sometimes when we have large events occurring, we need a lot of hands on deck for a short period of time.

To join a committee contact a member of your desired committee below.

Community Engagement Committee

We are building community connections, educating others and building awareness. This committee is responsible for planning all social and networking functions for The Center.  Members of this committee help us organize PRIDE week and other numerous events. We also connect with others through information booths. The development aspect of the committee is related to advocacy, education and mission sustainability. In addition, we create ways to raise funds to support and promote our mission.

Grant Committee

This team is critical to our ability to keep our doors open.  We are always interested in assistance from grant experts or those with a gift for writing.

Communications Committee

Communications is a new committee for us.  We are trying to embrace a variety of ways to get the message out about our events, programming and center work.  This often requires someone who can help us draft messages to the public, create flyers or posters for events or similar.  If you are creative, artistic or a word-smith, we welcome you to the group.

Programming Committee

The programming committee is responsible for developing and ensuring the effective delivery of support programming that meets the needs of the community. The programming committee meets regularly to discuss the effectiveness of The Center’s support programs (e.g. Galaxy, Andromeda, TransForum) and address any concerns. The committee also discusses any potential additions to The Center’s programming and works develops new programs as interest arises from the community.

Strategic Planning Committee

Strategic Planning is when there is a coordinated and systematic process of envisioning a desired future and translating this vision into broadly defined goals or objectives. All the while, creating a sequence of steps to achieve them. This committee was created to help the Center determine the direction it would like to see the organization go and focus on how it is going to get there while remaining true to The Center’s mission, vision and value statements.
