Center Activities for August 2006
In addition to Pride, August is a busy month for the Center and there are lots of opportunities to support your Center! Check out our garage sale, art display, and raffle.
Second Annual Garage Sale:
The Center garage sale is August 4-5 from 8:00 to 4:00 at 1827 Adams Street. Come to the sale and support your Center! If you have items to donate, send email to info@7riverslgbt.org We’ll even pick up your donations for you.
Love Makes a Family:
The Center is sponsoring the display, Love Makes a Family at several locations throughout the regions during August and September.
Love Makes a Family is a museum-quality traveling exhibit including photographs and interviews with families that have lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) members. Through first-person accounts and positive images, this exhibit seeks to challenge and change damaging myths and stereotypes about LGBT people and their families. At the most basic level, Love Makes A Family combats homophobia by breaking silence and making the invisible visible.
You can view it at the La Crosse Public Library, main branch from August 3 to 22. The display will be at the Omni Center during Pride and then will move to the Winona State University Library from August 28 to September 9th. Raffle:
There is still time to buy raffle tickets for a gorgeous, one of a kind, leather and wood trunk. Tickets are available at the Center, by contacting us through email at info@7riverslgbt.org, by phone at 608.784.0452, or during Pride.
