Christa Matter Memorial Library at the 7 Rivers LGBT Resource Center

The Center’s library is open to the public, and it has a variety of materials. There are both fiction and non-fiction that is LGBT-related, including books written by LGBT authors, stories with LGBT characters, and books focusing on issues special to LGBT persons. Movies with LGBT themes are available too!

We have two special requests for you. First and foremost, please stop in, browse our library and check out any books or materials of interest to you. Our library is the proud result of several persons having donated money and materials, and, thus, we have a relatively formidable collection; however, there are some important subject areas that are not adequately covered. In the past, persons have come to the Center in hopes of understanding, and others have come in because they are excited to learn about the journey ahead; we’d like to be able to meet everyone’s needs when they do so. So here is our second request. Below is a list of the subject areas that we need to strengthen; if you’ve any books or other materials dealing with these topics and you’re willing to donate them, that would be a great help!

Finally, within our Resource Library we have a collection of brochures and other materials that speak to LGBT issues and lives. These can be used for informational and educational purposes for you, your family and your community. They are free to anyone with an interest. Some titles include: A Resource Guide to Coming Out, Living Openly in you Place of Worship and A Straight Guide to GLBT Americans.

Visit your Resource Center and browse the library! The hours are currently 1:30 to 6:00 pm Monday and Thursday; Friday 5:00 to 8:00 pm; Saturday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
