My name is Rosanne St. Sauver. I have been a social justice advocate as long as I can remember and received formal training in 1992. I got in to advocacy as a result of looking for something constructive to do with my anger from being raped and battered. In my early thirties I came out and currently live with my partner Dee in La Crosse. We have seven children and four grandchildren. Over the years I have remained passionate about my work and incorporated my beliefs about ending violence against women to also include work to end other forms of oppression. I firmly believe that ending oppression for any "ism" will help to also end other "isms". Interestingly, I served on the GALAXY Committee under Marilyn Levin's leadership in the beginning years of this vital program. Over the years, I resolved to continue to work in social justice and strengthen the movement by sharing my beliefs and passion with others so they get involved and join their voices and energy to work toward ending violence, discrimination, and hate. Through the years I have had countless opportunities to attend statewide trainings that have assisted me in becoming a credible, knowledgeable and strong advocate for battered women, sexual assault victims, abused children, and victims of discrimination and hate. As a direct result of the opportunities I have been blessed with I co-presented with Sandy Davidson from Praxis International, was invited to speak to legislative committees and in the rotunda at the Violence Against Women Action Day Rally in Minnesota. During the years 1999-2008, I worked with the Houston County Domestic Violence Team to develop, plan and conduct trainings. My experiences and talents have assisted me in establishing myself in the movement as a credible resource and ally to the statewide movement, within the southeast corner of MN, and across the river into La Crosse. I have committed my life and work to being actively involved in the movement to end violence against women and children, members of the LGBT community, and actively work to make the world a better place. Since becoming an advocate in 1992, obtaining employment as a Program Assistant in 1997 at HCWR, and then being promoted to Program Coordinator in 1999, and ultimately leaving my beloved Houston County Women's Resources in August of 2008 and coming to the Center. I have continued to work effectively and diligently to be part of the solution to ending violence in all its forms. It is a privilege and honor to further expand my life’s passion of working for a better world here at the Center. I firmly believe in the innate human dignity of every person and work to ensure the Center remains a safe space for all who enter. Please stop in, visit, and check out our many wonderful resources. We are small, but big on promoting equality and helping others learn to embrace diversity. Feel free to contact me at 608-784-0452 or r.st.sauver@7riverslgbt.org
